female casualties of World War II, 2019, patchwork with silk, brass plate

In this work I translated two archived photos, found on the internet, of women raped in a public space during World War II into the patchworks on the wall and the metal plates on the floor. The work questions the distance between the past and pre- sent, the ugliness and beauty of humans, the meaning given to archived photos today, and how serious photos are used in media.
