A SIMPLE PORTRAIT, 2019, oil on canvas, each 165 cm x 120 cm
My work is questioning the feeling of freedom and desire from a women’s perspective. I paint what I wish I had seen, apart from traditional male images delivered by mainstream canals. The series A SIMPLE PORTRAIT shows the intimacy of the male nude in an amorous form. I like the combination of vulnerability and strength, the awkwardness of the expressions and of the bodies themselves touches me. For me, the paintings are like a re-appropriation of the space and the subject that has been confiscated. I want to provide images showing visions of my generation, which I see as strong and playful.
